Kittens are naturally curious animals; they are often found exploring around. Our kittens have been living cage free, they require ample space in their new homes to not feel constraint. Most of us live in high-rise apartments, we require homes to be cat-proofed.
This is for the safety of your kitten and most importantly to prevent any accidents.
Kittens from our cattery are required to be neutered or spayed by 6 months old. It is compulsory for owners to send us a copy of the sterilisation certificate.
The sterilisation responsibility is passed on to the owners because kittens leave our cattery at the age 3 to 5 months old. This age is considered too young and can be dangerous for sterilisation procedure. It is also based on the recommendations by our partners and most vets.
Female cats that are spayed before their first heat, for example, have reduced risk for malignant mammary tumors later in life. It is the most common type of cancer diagnosed in cats 10 years of age and older. Spaying reduces the risk of your cat developing infections of the uterus and cancers of their reproductive organs. Spaying prevents heat cycles, which can last several months, it also eliminates yowling, crying, and other erratic behaviours associated with heat cycles in cats.
Male cats, one of the reasons for neutering would be behavioural issues. This procedure also eliminates the possibility of testicular cancer and other prostate problems later in life. Neutering your male cat reduces his inappropriate behaviours such as roaming or finding a mate, marking inside your home, fighting with other males, reduces territorial and aggressive behaviours.
British breeds belong to the top of healthiest breeds of cats with minimum health issues and extended longevity (with proper care and feeding). This breed has an expected lifespan of 15-17 years, can grow up to 6kg-8kg for males and 5-7kg females.
Although British cats are not as prone to illness as compared to than other cats, It is important to check on the health of your cat yearly.
All kittens have higher activity level compared to an adult cat. We encourage sufficient playtime as British Shorthair &/or Longhair are prone to obesity. Although the British breed are known to be calmer, but with consistent playtime it is possible for a feline to stay active even as an adult!
Our Kings & Queens are still very active even as parents!
British breeds are known to have mild, calm demeanour and tolerant attitude. Due to their good nature, they do not get worked up easily, significantly calmer than most cat breeds. They sleep quite a lot too!
These loving cats are far more than just couch potato companions. They are incredibly intelligent, social, and affectionate. The British breed is a loyal breed that loves people and is tolerant of most environments.
Our kittens are known for its great sociability skills! They are extremely friendly and confident. They also have an independent streak, often fine on their own too.

MALES VS FEMALES
We receive this question on a daily basis, and we beg to differ on this typical stigma, “Males are more affectionate than females”
Just as humans have different characters, animals do too. Each would react differently to each situation and things which they like or dislike.
All cats or animals with fur sheds. Shedding is a natural process for your cat to lose dead or damaged hairs. The amount and frequency of shedding can depend on a number of factors such as season and types of fur.
The hair coat in shorthair cats is normally much thicker, so actually it sheds more compare to longhair cats where the hair is just longer in length and not as thick. Brushing your cat daily will significantly decrease the amount of fur shed.

Just remember, no matter how often you brush them (daily or weekly), do it regularly as it also improves the quality of hair coat and appearance.
We brush our kittens daily and we recommend to do it 2-3 times or minimally once a week.
Usage of high-quality brush/comb increases the efficiency of the process. Regular brushing rejuvenates the fur coat ensuring a healthy looking, thick and shiny looking fur coat.
We recommend owners to learn how to trim the kittens’ nails. Typically nail trimming can be done every 1.5 – 2weeks.
It is important to keep the eyes of your cat clean. Check daily.
Infections are often caused by bacteria that overgrow on mucus. If you notice any of these signs, your cat should still be examined when you see mild yellow/green discharge from the eyes, occasional squinting, mild redness, mild tearing.
By showering them, it helps to reduce shedding, rinses away dead hair, grease and keeping their hair coat nice and crisp! 4-6 weeks would be a good gauge, it is also highly recommended to start young to get them accustomed to baths.
Do it with a slow introduction to prevent over-stressing your cat.
British cats are known to be laidback; Owners can motivate them to move. Encourage play often, provide cat trees for climbing, and interactive cat toys for playing.
Weight management is very important with this breed because they tend to be less active as adults as compared to other cat breeds. They are prone to being overweight so daily exercise is a must.
